Message from the Principal

Hello Hutchison Families,

Next week, we're heading to the totally awesome Silver Diner in Reston for a fun-filled PTA fundraiser night!

Picture this: delicious diner food, groovy tunes, and the best company – all while supporting our amazing Hutchison Elementary students! We're talking burgers, milkshakes, and memories in the making!

Mark your calendars! We're taking over Silver Diner on Thursday, March 27th from 5-8PM.

And here's the best part: 20% of the proceeds will go directly to our school! That means every bite you take supports our eagles!

Let's make this a night to remember and show our Hutchison spirit! Bring your family, bring your friends, and let's make a difference together!

We can't wait to see you there!

PTA Corner

Dining for Dollars--Dinner at the Silver Diner

Our first dining fundraiser is this coming week!  Have dinner on Thursday, March 27 at the Silver Diner in Reston (near the Home Depot)--either in the restaurant or ordering online—and 20% of profits will go to the Hutchison PTA!

This is a great opportunity to enjoy a good meal and help a great cause--the Hutchison PTA!

 Future Meetings

April: Wednesday, April 23 at 7:00pm in the Hutchison Library.  We will take nominations for officers for the next school year at this meeting.  You must be present to be nominated.

May: Wednesday, May 21 at 7:00 pm in the Hutchison Library.  We will hold elections for the 2025-2026 school year at this meeting.  You must be present in person to be elected.

Meetings are also held virtually, and the link will be sent out via Talking Points and the PTA Members' email list before each meeting.

 Looking for Sponsorships

A big vision needs a big budget to help it become a reality.  Supporting our classrooms with new materials, our students with fun events (think: Author Visits; Fall Festival, etc.), our teachers with thank-you gifts, and our grounds with a new playground aren't free and take a lot of support.

Does your company donate to nonprofits?  We are one!  Connect with me to learn how to solicit donations or how to donate directly.

Become Unskippable - Fentanyl Awareness

Talking with teens about the facts of fentanyl is a conversation you can’t skip. Learning about fentanyl gives teens a better understanding of the risks and effects of the drug.

Share these important facts with your child:

  • Even half a fentanyl-laced pill can be fatal. Just a few salt-sized grains of fentanyl are enough to cause an overdose.
  • More than half of local street pills contain a deadly dose of fentanyl. As of 2023, seven in
10 counterfeit pills in the U.S. contain enough fentanyl to cause a fatal overdose.
  • Fentanyl is usually taken accidentally. Many people have no idea they’ve taken it until they overdose because you can’t see, smell, or taste it in pills and powders.
  • Overdose can happen in an instant. In as little as four minutes, the lack of oxygen can lead to brain damage and even death.

Learn more about how to have conversations with your child in a way that will make you Become Unskippable.

Infant/Toddler Resources and Child Find

Are you concerned about your infant, toddler, or preschool-aged child's development? Resources are available if your child exhibits difficulties in one or more of the following areas:

  • communication,
  • fine and/or gross motor skills,
  • self-help skills,
  • problem-solving
  • attention skills

Learn more about typical developmental milestones.

The Infant & Toddler Connection of Virginia (ITC) is the state’s early intervention system for infants and toddlers (0-36 months) with disabilities and their families. ITC provides evaluations and services for children who have developmental delays or medical conditions that may affect development. Parents are encouraged to contact ITC at 703-246-7121 to share their concerns.

Early Childhood Child Find is the process of identifying children with potential special education needs between the ages of 20 months and 5 years (children must be two by September 30).

FCPS Early Childhood Identification and Services (ECID&S) offers a free referral process to identify potential developmental delays or disabilities. Special education services are provided for all children who are found eligible through the referral process. Parents are encouraged to contact 571-423-4121 with questions or to make a referral.

✨ Helping students meet the criteria for kindergarten readiness is Goal 1 of the Strategic Plan.
