Dear Herndon Pyramid Families,

We hope this letter finds you and your loved ones well and acclimating to our new temporary norm of staying safe while at home.  All the staff from the Herndon Pyramid were saddened to hear that we would not return to school buildings this year. Even though schools are closed, our goal is to proceed with continuity of learning for our students.  Since the last time we were together with students, schools have been creating online learning classrooms and attending training on how to utilize tech tools to support our distance learning beginning on April 14, 2020.

We are so grateful for your patience as launching a distance learning plan to reach 189,000 students that engages nearly 16,000 classroom teachers is a complex challenge. We acknowledge that distance learning cannot reasonably replace daily in-person instructional programs, and we will not be trying to replicate the regular school day. We know you have many questions.  We are sharing information as quickly as possible via News You Choose letter and on our social media sites.  Please stay connected to us by following FCPS as well as your student’s school on Facebook and Twitter. We will continue to provide you with the most current information.

Our Distance Learning Plan provides for students to continue learning in developmentally appropriate ways, while being mindful of their health and wellness. The plan includes paper learning packets, video broadcasts, lessons/assignments and learning materials posted to Blackboard and completed individually or collaboratively, along with scheduled web chats. You can click here to review a detailed explanation of the FCPS distance learning plan.

Each school within the Herndon Pyramid has created schedules for students to participate in live learning sessions with teachers and office hours when teachers will be available online.  Please check your school’s website homepage and click the link for Distance Learning.

We are missing you, wishing you well and looking forward to connecting with each of you soon.

Sincerely,

The Herndon Pyramid Principals
