Kindergartners received a special guest reader this week from the Sea Mote Laboratory in Sarasota, FL. A scientist Skyped into their classroom to a read a book. They listened to the story, If a Dolphin Were a Fish by Loran Wlodarski and Laurie Allen Klein. During the story, students learned all about special animal adaptations. They were also entertained by high-definition video of the ocean animals that the Sea Mote Lab studies in their research. At the end, students were able to ask questions about animals and receive answers live. Opportunities like this allow students to interact with people in other places and work on their communication skills -- and it's fun!
