Dear Hutchison ES students, parents, staff, and community members.

It gives me great pleasure to announce that Sarah Aiello, current principal at Spring Hill Elementary School, has been selected as the new principal of Hutchison Elementary School effective August 10, 2020.

Ms. Aiello began her career and emerged as a teacher leader at Dogwood Elementary School, Pine Spring Elementary School and at Glasgow Middle School. She transitioned to the administrative path in her career in 2011 when she was appointed assistant principal at Langston Hughes Middle School. During her tenure she served and supervised the special education, ESOL, and Science Departments. Ms. Aiello was instrumental in the integration of the IBMYP curriculum through the work of collaborative teams. This was further fostered by the strengthening of tier 1 instruction through professional development, strategic planning and accountability. In 2016, she became assistant principal at Hutchison Elementary School. She was a significant contributor to the school gaining full accreditation. Her focus on school-wide educator effectiveness and increased communication and collaboration with parents and community stakeholders contributed to the overarching success of the school.

Ms. Aiello continued the success of Spring Hill Elementary School through a student-centered approach that personalized learning and development of the staff. The school implemented programs such as the advanced academic curriculum integration and the Positivity project. Her outreach to the community fostered ongoing collaboration with families and community members. In addition, Ms. Aiello has frequently served and contributed to the school division through her participation on division-wide committees. She is a life-long learner who has sought internally and externally to enhance her own knowledge and skills through programs such as the Harvard University Project Zero innovation design.

Ms. Aiello holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in education from Mercyhurst College and a Master of Education degree in Educational Leadership from Virginia Tech.

Ms. Aiello is excited and honored to return to Hutchison Elementary as principal. She looks forward to maintaining and advancing the academic success as well as embracing the community’s commitment to education.

Ms. Aiello and Interim Principal, Sharamaine Williams will be in close coordination to ensure a smooth transition.
