Message from the PrincipalAs we come to the end of the quarter, I’m reminded of how important reflection is in our work. Reflection is an important process for both personal and professional growth. It allows us to take a step back and examine our experiences in order to learn from them and improve our performance in the future. This week I will spend time reflecting on our progress, accomplishments, and areas for opportunity as a school and as your leader. I’ll share my thoughts with you next week. As a parent, reflecting on your child's report card can be a helpful way to track their progress and identify areas where they may need additional support. It can also be an opportunity to celebrate their achievements and to work together with your child and their teacher to develop a plan for continued success. Reflection questions to consider:
Progress Reports will be sent home in Tuesday folders on 11/14 and viewable to Parentvue on 11/15. With excitement and anticipation, Sarah C. Aiello |

National Family Engagement MonthNovember is National Family Engagement Month! This month reminds us that families are children's first and most important teachers, advocates, and nurturers. Over 35 years of research shows that the most effective way to increase student achievement is for families to be actively involved in their children's education. Family engagement is a shared responsibility between home, school, and the community. Here is a calendar of ideas with families to try during November. |

Fun, Easy Ways to Play with Math at Home Part 2Read picture books. Visit your local library and check out great picture books about counting, numbers, patterns, measurement, shapes, and engineering. (some of our favorites are Eric the Math Bear; any book by Greg Tang; Animals by the Numbers, Remainder of One, Spaghetti and Meatballs for All, and there are LOTS more) Try origami. The creations children make by folding paper help them develop strong spatial skills as well as logical and sequential thinking…folding and unfolding paper helps children think in two and three dimensions and see how the sequence of steps affects the final design. Play card games. Games like Memory, Go Fish, War, Slap Jack, Crazy Eights, Uno etc give children practice in recognizing and comparing numbers. They also help children learn to pay attention to things like shape, number and color. |
