PTA CornerThank you to everyone who joined our Charter Meeting this week where we established the first official Parent Teacher Association at Hutchison in over a decade! It is our focus to support students and teachers as we work with the administration to become a premier elementary school in FCPS. How will we do this? With YOU! We are 42 members strong at the start with room for everyone to join in so that all families are served and working as a community to continue building the school we want for our children. Our focus: (1) Fundraising so that we can help fill budget gaps and add upgrades to the building and school grounds. (2) Building community by offering events that bring us together as we celebrate our children. (3) Being a sounding board for the administration for their ideas as well as a resource providing ideas to the admin team as we work together to create opportunities for all students to excel while at Hutchison. At the Charter Meeting, we elected officers:
As we continue to build, we will create committees and ask for others to step into leadership roles. Bring your strengths and talents to the Hutchison PTA! To join, simply return the form from last week’s Tuesday Folder with $10 or attend our next meeting to pay dues in person (dates coming very soon)! | Contact:Michael Gueltig

Complete Your Federal Impact Aid SurveyFCPS is asking all families to fill out a Federal Impact Aid Survey. The form is available online in SIS ParentVUE. If you have not already filled out the form online, we will provide paper forms in November. Please be sure to return them by Friday, November 17. Completing this form for each school-aged child in every household is important, because information from this survey resulted in more than $4 million in funding last year from the U.S. Department of Education. These funds are used to support all Fairfax County public schools and centers. Please watch this video and visit the Federal Impact Aid Survey page for more information. | Contact:Maureen Griffin

We now teach and assess all ELA standards in all quarters using rigorous on-grade level texts in relation to end of year expectations, which could result in lower grades earlier in the year as students work towards grade-level mastery.
